Protect Your Work

Although the typical office may seem to be the last place to encounter a problem, there are times when your work can be at risk, preventing you from earning much needed money for your daily needs.

This site is intended as a general guide to unemployment protection insurance to help you understand how the plans work and what the limits and options are. It covers in outline the different types of plans available for the self employed, employed and those available to a business. The final sections deal with the tax implications and a glossary of terms.

The guide is not intended to give financial advice under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 or the rules and regulations of the Financial Services Authority. If you are in any doubt you should seek professional advice from an Independent Financial Adviser.

This guide is intended only for the use of UK residents and British expats. We hope you find it useful.

Eligibility

Not everyone is eligible for coverage under most unemployment policies offered by insurance companies. Some companies also take into account the type of business your employer is engaged in, financial viability, and the nature of the applicant's work.

Cover is available to most customers aged between 18 and 70. You must be resident in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man or working for the British Armed Forces or a UK Government Civil Servant working in a British Embassy or Consulate.
